VIETNAMESE GRAPHIC DESIGN AND THE APPLICATION OF TRADITIONAL VISUAL ARTS

Abstract

Graphic design has thrived in Vietnam in recent decades thanks to the development of the socio-economic environment, science and technology, modern communication... and it plays an increasingly important role as well as a great influence on many aspects of social life. However, with the rapid development, Vietnamese graphic design cannot avoid inadequacies, many graphic design products show copying, plagiarism, heavy commerciality, separation from national culture and aesthetic language. The question is: How can Vietnamese graphic design products make their own mark? Is it necessary for modern Vietnamese graphic designers to pay attention to the language of traditional visual arts and national cultural identity?
