Abstract

Human resources are considered as the important asset of an organization, where employees need to be competent in their areas of expertise and be inspired to have a good performance in the workplace. This article aims to show the extent to which extrinsic and intrinsic factors effect on the employee’s motivation to work. With the collected data from 218 employees of Vinalines Logistic Company in Vietnam by a structured questionnaire with five points Likert scale, the study applied quantitative methods, using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and regression model to determine the factors that influence on the force behind of the workers. Research results showed that 3 intrinsic factors (promotion opportunities; nature of work and personal responsibility) had a greater influence on employees’ work motivation than 2 extrinsic factors (incomes; working conditions), among which promotion opportunities are the most influential one.
