CHINESE PHONETICS: PERSPECTIVES FROM COMPARISON AND TEACHING ACTIVITIES

Abstract

In the light of reflection theory in teaching and learning activities and the contrastive linguistic method, the article identifies the common negative influences that Vietnamese learners have in learning Chinese pronunciation. The solutions proposed are to shift the focus on the phonetic similarities and differences between the mother tounge and the target language for learners to acquire correct pronunciation more easily. The research scope includes sounds, rhymes and tones, but not stress and sentence intonation.
