CREATIVE APPLICATION OF DONG SON BRONZE DRUM PATTERNS IN DESIGNING AO DAI

Abstract

Vietnamese women’s Ao Dai is a cultural symbol associated with the image of Vietnamese women. Over the years, the traditional Ao Dai has changed to match the contemporary aesthetic. Designers have used their creativity to constantly update and change designs, materials, and colors to better suit the lifestyle of the times. The symbol of Ao Dai is preserved and developed with many changes of trends and cultural movements in society. Ao Dai not only shows the beauty in the use of women’s costumes, but also shows creative thinking and aesthetic tastes in the national culture. Nowadays, in the context of global integration and development, it is becoming urgent to research and preserve the traditional features in Ao Dai in particular and other fields in general. The Dong Son bronze drum pattern is a symbol representing the Vietnamese civilization and culture during the country’s founding period. Ao Dai is a symbolic product for traditional costumes. The introduction of the Dong Son bronze drum pattern into the design of Ao dai is a very meaningful thing, satisfying the desire to express the national spirit, preserving the traditional beauty in the costume culture of the Vietnamese people.
