Abstract

In the history of educational development, self-study has always been an issue that many people are interested in studying both in theory and practice. In particular, in distance learning, where learners have to be autonomous in seeking and acquiring knowledge, self-study capacity is a key factor to improve training quality. Therefore, how  to improve the self-study capacity of learners in general and distance learners in particular is one of the most important tasks of higher education. Hanoi Open University is one of the few schools offering distance learning Chinese language courses. Training practice shows that there are still many obstacles and difficulties in improving the quality of learners’ self- study. The article is based on teaching practice and survey results on the self-study ability of distance learning students at Hanoi Open University to analyze the current situation, thereby, propose some solutions to improve the self-study capacity of specialized subjects for distance-learning students of Chinese language at Hanoi Open University.
